Where to Buy Kosher Meat & Cheese in Mandarin

We often hear that Jacksonville is the largest city in the lower 48 states by land mass. That may be true, but the observant Jewish community is settled in one area of town, Mandarin. That's why most of the kosher food in Northeast Florida is located here. We are a Southern town, so we have Winn Dixie and Publix. 😃

Winn Dixie

Winn Dixie has the most kosher meat and cheese, but is (generally) more expensive than Publix and Trader Joes. 

What they carry:

Fresh beef: Meal Mart and Shor Habor steak, brisket, ground, stew meat, corned beef roast.

Fresh lamb: Meal Mart lamb chops.

Fresh chicken: Shor Habor whole, leg quarters, breasts, legs.

Deli: assorted Empire turkey products, A&H and Empire beef, turkey and chicken hot dogs, salami, beef fry, sausages.

Dairy: Cholov Yisroel milk, cheeses, cream cheese, sour cream, yogurt.

Frozen: Meal Mart ground beef patties, Empire chicken, Meal Mart chicken wings and prepared foods; various pizzas, blintzes, bourekas, pierogies.

Publix

Publix carries fewer items than Winn Dixie, but their meat and chicken are (generally) less expensive.

Fresh beef: Meal Mart and Aaron's steak, brisket, ground, stew meat.

Fresh lamb: Meal Mart lamb chops.

Fresh chicken: Shor Habor whole, leg quarters, breasts, legs.

Deli: Meal Mart and Aaron's lunchmeat, salami, hot dogs; A&H hot dogs.

Dairy: Les Petites Fermières, HaOlam, Tnuva, and Schtark cholov Yisroel cheeses.

Frozen: Meal Mart ground beef and patties, Empire chicken, Empire Cornish game hens, Empire whole turkey, Meal Mart chicken wings and prepared foods; various pizzas, blintzes, pierogies.

Trader Joes

Trader Joe's is the only store that carries the Teva brand.

What they carry:

Fresh beef: Teva brand steak (limited availability during the year), ground and stew meat.

Fresh chicken: Empire leg quarters, breasts and boneless thighs.

Fresh half turkey and ground turkey, and whole turkey seasonally.

BJs Wholesale Club only carries Meal Mart deli meat, in a 20 ounce package (pastrami and/or corned beef).
